The most important update for you to be aware of is our new service goal: Peer to Peer/Student to Student/Thriver to Victim individual meetings on an “as needed” and emergency basis. These encounters can take place within a few hours in convenient and discreet locations now within Marion, Citrus, Sumter, and Hernando Counties and soon thereafter will include Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco Counties.
In 2005, after selling my own marketing and sales company, I wanted to teach college courses in government and sociology. Sociology became my first love and eventually led to my involvement with many students who expressed to me, verbally and in writing, their family and relationship issues. During that 18-year period, I got involved with the local Marion County Florida social service community leaders. I soon realized that DV/SA/IPV were widespread throughout ALL ethnicities, races, and social classes.
My book, The Five, was initially written for college students’ supplemental reading to course work and is now available to the public through Amazon. I am excited with the interest the book has created and wish to expand readership. Please read the reviews on the Amazon site.
I would like you to review the website, listed below for details on my new non-profit organization and how to order “The Five.” You can read the stories as told to me by five beautiful thrivers who have lived through and survived similar yet different horrific situations. Please review October’s Town Talk magazine; you can access the full article on our website: https://sociologic.org/
In December, I decided to retire from teaching to have the freedom from constraints put on the subject matter of my book. Our state politicians decided sociology was no longer a core subject; sociologists were teaching too many WOKE subjects, like culture! I went from teaching five sections of a basic sociology course to one section within a year. This was not just a trend at my college but throughout the state as well as in many other areas of the country. Therefore, my book had almost no chance of being adopted by other schools for use in the sociology academic discipline.
There is another reason for my retirement. I want to go whenever and wherever to do interviews with journalists, media personalities, and other interested advocates. Domestic violence and sexual assault are “NOT-WOKE.” We need to discuss these issues with a broad audience and offer solutions.
